I can't stand looking for "uber" items anymore. Maxed stats that are relatively easy to get is awesome.

Nope. I've actually just started playing KotoR again. Man, I wish Arenanet could come up with come characters on par with those. Seriously, come up with a character like HK-47 in GW2 and I will love you forever, Arenanet.

One of the few RPGs I can play consistently other than this one is Star Ocean 3. Fabulous battle system, same for the item creation. 400 hours and growing on that game.

Did GW ruin all other rpg's for you too?

No.
Guild Wars would have to be the best RPG ever for that to happen.

Im not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing, I am thinking about getting another rpg but im scared the same thing might happen. FF 12 I hear is a great but the time I waste grinding in that game I could be making some dough in this one. Any of you guys experience what I am talking about?

I'm in your same boat man, I tried playing other RPG's but I end up leaving them eating dust and play GW, however I don't say GW ruined the others its just came out to be very addicting. I see addiction nothing else.

No way. Nothing beats Fallout, especially not a shallow game like Guild Wars. Its only button mashing game, not really RPG. It lacks dialogue system, dynamic storyline, theres no player impact on the world around, no multiple choices quests/stories. World is small, cramped and basically theres only one way forward ... Guild Wars isn't really a cRPG game, its rather action game in the style of Diablo and Dungeon Siege. I'm playing this game only for the PVP part. Roleplaying and storytelling is horrible and sub-par to almost any RPG i've played ( NWN, BG saga, KotoR, Arcanum, Fallout, Torment and many others )

While GW is great fun for me as just a casual diablo-style game to play with my friends, it just doesn't offer the open pvp I enjoy in other games. Long term wars, economical competition and politics is what sets mmo's apart from regular games for me. Something about GW's consentual "arena" based pvp just leaves something to be desired for people like me. I still dabble in random arenas just because GW has a fun skill system.
Currently I mostly play Eve with a little GW and shadowbane on the side.
As for holding any actual rpg value? Nah. I don't consider GW a role-playing game at all. If that's the sorta stuff I was after I'd be more likely to be playing ryzom or EQ2.

In terms of time spent, GW has "ruined" other RPGs for me. Not because it is the best RPG out there but it suits my present lifestyle.
The more limiting factor for me is that I only have a 40-gb HDD so I can't install whatever I want... currently saving up for an 80-gb HDD so I can finally finish KOTOR and NWN (plus some Splinter Cell on the side) and try out Morrowind and Black & White 1. Oldies but goodies

RPGs? That would be Final Fantasy.
But GW ruins all other grindfest MMOs for me though. Now if a game is an MMOG AND has grind, it must has something VERY good about it or I won't even bother to try.

I adore GW and have sunk several hundred hours into it, but I'm also very fond of Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege 2, Morrowind (1500+ hours here, mostly thanks to user mods), Oblivion, The old Baldur's Gate and Fallout games, and countless others I'm just not thinking of. GW's the only online RPG I'd play, though, thanks to the instancing mechanics and the NPC option. I fear greatly that GW2 won't be my style at all.

I think MMORPG is having an effect on the gaming industry especially single player RPG. A huge majority of gamers are addicted to playing MMORPGs and ignoring new RPGs. It seems only established RPGs like Fallout, KOTOR, FF series etc can survive now. Making a brand new RPG is very risky business these days. Anyway WoW has ruined other RPG games for me. I used to buy a game or two every few weeks in the hope of finding a good game. Now that i'm hooked on to WoW i don't even go into game shops anymore.
